Some New News...at last
Well, it's taken a while. But finally we have got around to updating the website. When you've got loads of motivation in the middle of the season it's easy to write stuff on here, but when things are winding down, and the motivation is in short supply, it gets more difficult. Anyway, here is what has happened in no particular order:

1. Oli has been training for the Karrimor elite class, which he will be doing this weekend with his partner Andrew Middleditch - they are not sure of their chances of winning but will give it their best shot! Read a report about this here. We'll let you know how it goes...
2. Jenny has been training with Hallamshire Harriers and running in the South Yorkshire Cross Countries and the National Road Relays. She finished 5th in the first SYXC race and hopes to run the whole series. I don't know why she is smiling!
3. Jenny started a new job in September for the Sheffield based internet company Planetfear, who sell outdoor equipment. While they specialize in climbing and adventure racing gear, they are branching out into running and orienteering. The website also serves as a kind of forum and news site for outdoor sports, which reporters from different fields contribute to. It's well worth a look!
4. Oli went to Moscow to do some research work in the archives there. Of course there was also some time for orienteering - this is a 'typical' bit of moscow terrain - loads of paths, loads of green and nettles. It's almost too well mapped to navigate smoothly! He was lucky enough to be able to stay with Tatiana Kostileva, from the Russian team, for a few days while he was out there. The research went well too, and he will be going back again in December.
5. Jenny and oli both went to 25 manna, Oli travelling with Espoon Suunta after training in Finland for a few days, and Jenny coming out to run for Vasteras and stay with Jo Stevenson. Things went a little better for VSOK, who finished 33rd. Essu had a great start after Annti Parjainen came in 6th, and Oli on 2nd leg dropped just a few places to 10th. After that though, disaster struck as an ankle injury lost them 40 minutes on one leg! They finished in a disappointing 73rd.
6. Dark Peak men's team won the FRA relays for the second year in a row, this time in Alva, Scotland. The team consisted of Al Ward on 1st, Rob Little on 2nd, Oli and Andrew Middleditch on 3rd and Tim Austin and Lloyd Taggart on 4th. It was a good all round team performance sealed by the superstars on last leg. Read more about it on the carshare website.
7. I have got addicted to catching features online, which is just an amazing game. I am convinced that it is actually possible to get some training benefit from playing this game. Give it a go - it is really good!!! Check out the competitions link to watch the ultra-competitive league.
