5/10/04: Dark Peak best ever results at Ian Hodgson Relays
Lesley going well on leg 3Jenny and Oli helped Dark Peak Fell Runners to 2nd place in both the Men's and Women's classes at the weekend in the Lake District. The women's team ran a strong race epitomised by captain Karen Davison and British Orienteering Champion Helen Winskill breaking the first leg record. Although the team was missing such stars as Chaanah Patton, Hannah Wooton and Kirsty Bryan-Jones, the last leg runners: Suzy Robertson (ShUOC) and Jenny were able to bring them home in 2nd place after great performances on the first 3 legs saw them start in the lead. Unfortunately Ilkley's last leg pair were just too strong, congratulations to them.

Meanwhile the men's team included Matt Crane and Andrew Middleditch of ShUOC and Phil Winskill of SYO. Phil ran a fantastic 3rd leg with Tim Austin to take the team up from 4th to 2nd with some great navigating. Oli and Mick Robinson ran a storming last leg - the fastest descent of the day - to hold on to silver behind a very strong Borrowdale team.
